The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Harjinder Singh, a volunteer of the Punjab Home Guard (PHG) posted at the police post village Lalton Kalan, district Ludhiana, on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau here today said that the case against the said accused was registered after the investigation of the online complaint filed by Mandeep Kaur, a resident of Bhai Bala Colony, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana on the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line. has been recorded.

He further said that the complainant alleged in his complaint that the PHG posted at the police post Lalton Kalan, Ludhiana. Volunteer Harjinder Singh and ASI. Ravinder Kumar is demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 from him in exchange for his help in the police case registered against his brothers.

The complainant further alleged that the said ASI. On behalf of the accused Ph.G. Volunteer Harjinder Singh has already taken a bribe of Rs 10,000 from him and is now demanding the remaining Rs 20,000. As evidence, the complainant submitted the said Ph.G. The recording of the demand made by the volunteer was also handed over to Vigilance.

After receiving the complaint, Vigilance Range Ludhiana investigated the complaint and found the allegations leveled by the complainant to be true. Based on this report, the accused Ph.G. Volunteer Harjinder Singh has been arrested by registering a case under FIR No. 05 dated 31.01.2024 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Ludhiana Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau.

It is to be noted that the accused will be produced in the court tomorrow. He further informed that the role of the above ASI Ravinder Kumar and other police personnel will also be investigated during the further investigation of this matter.
