Many districts of Punjab are currently suffering from floods. Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala are in a flood-like situation after the release of water from the Pong Dam. Seeing this, DC Gurdaspur has declared holiday in all schools till further orders.
Gurdaspur News. 8 districts of Punjab have been hit by flood. The water level of Sutlej river has increased due to the opening of flood gate of Bhakra Dam. Which had an impact on Ropar. On the other hand, after Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, the water released from Pong Dam has now covered Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur.
Speaking on the power crisis in Punjab, CM Bhagwant Mann has also expressed concern over the situation in Punjab. DC Gurdaspur has declared holiday in all schools till further orders.

Announcement of holidays in schools
Gurdaspur DC Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said that considering the criticality of the occasion, school holidays will remain till further orders. Let it be said here that all private schools in the district will remain closed due to the flood situation.

50 villages of Gurdaspur under flood
About 50 villages of Dinanagar, Gurdaspur and Kahnuwan areas of Gurdaspur district have been submerged in Beas river due to heavy water release from Pong Dam. Out of which about 12 villages are especially suffering from floods.
Medical teams of district Gurdaspur have been sent to houses via boats to check on people stuck in their homes for 3 days and those who dont want to move out. Water levels are receding upstream and fanning to downstream area near Kahnuwan. Plz be alert.@PunjabGovtIndia pic.twitter.com/9LCBtZUrYU

Teams with 15 boats rescued more than 500 people. The most affected villages include Chichia Chroia, Pakhowal, Dauwal, Khaira, Dalerpur, Padana, Chhina Bet, Nadala, Jagpur Kalan, Kohlias and Kharis. Jagatpur Tanda and Bhaini Paswal areas were affected due to the breach of Dhusi Dam. DC Himanshu Aggarwal said that the water level has decreased by 9 inches in the flood affected area.
