Mansa court sentences 10-year sentence to man who tried to rape disabled minor

Mansa’s Special Judge’s Court has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs 1 lakh 10 thousand for committing indecent acts and attempting to rape a mentally retarded and disabled girl. Out of this fine, 80 thousand rupees have been ordered to be given to the victim girl. Apart from this, the court has ordered the government to pay Rs 8 lakh.

The lawyer of the victim, Zaswant Singh Grewal, said that Karamjit Singh of Akali village took a playing minor and retarded girl to the farm on the pretext of giving her something, where he performed indecent acts with the girl and tried to rape her. Later he left the girl at a bus stop in a village.

The parents of the victim girl complained to the police and on November 22, 2019, the Joga police registered a case under various Dharawa and POSCO Acts against Karamjit Singh, a resident of Aklia. While deciding this complaint, the court of Special Judge Navjot Kaur has sentenced Karamjit Singh to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of one lakh and ten thousand rupees, out of which Rs. Apart from this, the government has also been ordered to pay Rs 8 lakh to the victim girl from its own account.
