Punjab Budget Session: Punjab CM Mann pays homage to seven eminent personalities | Punjab

Chandigarh, March 3: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday led the Vidhan Sabha in paying homage to seven eminent personalities, including political personalities, freedom fighter and journalist, who had passed away since the last session of the Assembly.

On the first day of the fourth (Budget) Session of the 16th Vidhan Sabha, the House paid its respects to Lok Sabha Member Chaudary Santokh Singh, Former Ministers Ranjit Singh Bramhpura, Naresh Thakur and Babu Ram Chawla, Ex-MLA Malkiat Singh besides Freedom Fighter Pritam Singh and Journalist Niranjan Singh Parwana.

After the obituary references, the Speaker Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan moved a resolution for conveying the condolences of the House to their respective families, which was accepted unanimously.

A two-minute silence was observed in the memory of departed souls as a mark of respect during the obituary references.

Notably, the budget session of the 16th Legislative Assembly of Punjab began on Friday.

The budget started with speech of Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit. He started with the opening words stating that, โ€œWith your cooperation I would like to say that my government has completed one year.โ€
