Punjab budget 2023-24 presented by Harpal Cheema

March 10 by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann means that the budget is being presented in the Vidhan Sabha today. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema is presenting the budget estimate for the year 2023-24 in the House.

A budget of one lakh 96 thousand 462 crores is being presented for the financial year 2023-24. There is an increase of 26 percent in the budget compared to last year. The per capita income of Punjab was 7.40 percent. In the year 2022-23, the budget was increased by 14 percent. 13,888 crore reserved for agriculture, increased by 20 per cent. A new agricultural policy will come soon in Punjab. A new policy is being made for agriculture. In the year 2022-23, the budget was 1,55,870 crores. Basmati cultivation will be encouraged for crop diversification.

This year there has been a 30 percent reduction in the cases of stubble burning. 125 crore rupees have been sanctioned for direct sowing of paddy and purchase of groundnut. Rs. 100 crores for Milkfed, Rs. 80 crores for new warehouses of Mark Fed. Along with this, another Rs. 100 crores has been announced for Gurdaspur and Batala Sugar Complex. Free electricity scheme will be given to farmers this year as well. Rs 9331 crore has been sanctioned for free electricity. Rs 253 crore has been sanctioned for horticulture.

Bagwani estates will be built in these five districts Patiala, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana and Faridkot. 350 crore rupees for stubble management has been estimated this year 3.32 fiscal deficit. Efforts are on to deal with lumpy skin disease of cattle. Shaheed e Azam Bhagat Singh Haryawal scheme will continue. A target has been set to plant 1 crore saplings in one year in Punjab.

A budget of 17 thousand 74 crores has been kept for education and higher education. It has increased by 12 percent over last year. 2 crore has been earmarked for Urdu Akademi Malerkotla. A budget of Rs 615 crore has been earmarked for technical education institutes. A budget of Rs 18 crore has been earmarked for OBC pre-matric scholarship. A budget of Rs 60 crore has been earmarked for pre-matric scholarship for SC.
