Shiromani Akali Dal is celebrating its 103rd foundation day today. Sukhbir Badal, Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal and other leaders paid obeisance at Harmandir Sahib on Tuesday morning. Sri Akhand Path was started here.

Shiromani Akali Dal is the second oldest party after Congress. Which was founded in 1920 after Congress party. This party was formed as a task force of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Its first head was Sarmukh Seen Chabal while it gained more popularity during the time of Master Tara Singh.
The Akali Dal presented itself as the leading representative of the Sikhs. Akali Dal had an alliance with BJP in 1997 which broke in 2020 over the Kisan Bill issue.
