Benefits of Potato: Potato is called the king of vegetables. Almost every vegetable has potato involved. Potato like many other vegetables came to India from Africa. It is considered fattening due to its high carbohydrate content. But raw potato and its juice are considered to be very beneficial for health as they are rich in nutrients.

Raw potato works as a medicine for many diseases, like-

* Digestive Disorders: Potato juice reduces heartburn and acid build-up.

* Peptic ulcer: It is also called Mehde’s ulcer. Due to excess acidity in it, the membrane of the mehde gets damaged and the mehde gets permanently scarred. According to a research, potato juice is able to cure peptic ulcer.

* Cancer: According to a research conducted in China, a substance called patatin present in potatoes helps prevent melanoma type of cancer in mice.

* Cholesterol: Potato juice regulates triglycerides in cholesterol.

* Joint pain: Taking two spoons of potato juice before every meal is very beneficial for a patient suffering from joint pain. Apart from this, take thick potato peels and boil them in water for 4-5 minutes and then drink it when it cools down. Thus taking it four times a day is beneficial.

* Skin care: Grind the potato and leave it on the face for some time. The nutrients present in potato give the skin softness and natural glow. Skin remains beautiful and youthful. In addition, potato pulp mixed with honey or olive oil can be applied to a wound, abrasion or burn to provide relief.

* Inflammation and itching: Applying thick potato peels on the inflamed area and/or itching caused by an animal bite or an infection can provide relief. Any dietary supplement should be consumed only in the necessary quantity with the advice of a qualified physician.
