White House Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave ‘Das Danam’ to US President Joe Wyden at a private dinner. It is a tradition in India that this donation is given to those who see a thousand full moons. By calendar reckoning, when a person is 80 years and 8 months old, he has seen a thousand full moons. Biden is about the same age. He will celebrate his 81st birthday in November.

Modi reached the White House at around 9 pm (US time) on the second day of his US visit. Here, President Biden and the First Lady welcomed him. Indian NSA Ajit Doval and US NSA Jake Sullivan were present in the dinner. The dinner menu included Biden’s favorite pasta and ice cream.

During the dinner, PM Modi gifted him a special sandalwood box from Mysore made by Jaipur artisans. Inside the box are 10 gifts in a small box with an idol of Lord Ganesha and a silver lamp. All these gifts are fixed according to Indian tradition. Apart from these, the Prime Minister also gifted a diamond to the first lady of America.

The PM gave Biden a symbol of Ten Danam in a box made of sandalwood. Inside this box are ten small silver boxes.
