After the rain in Himachal Pradesh, the situation has started to deteriorate in Punjab. Water is being released from Bhakra and Pong dams in Punjab. Due to this, the water level of Beas and Sutlej has started to rise. Many villages of 4 districts Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Rupnagar have been affected by flood. But now the rescue operation has started in these areas.

The United Sikhs and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) have taken over the front in Rupnagar. United Sikhs has provided a motor boat for the villages of Rupnagar. While the Shiromani Committee has started langar service in village Bham. NDRF teams rescued people in flood affected areas.

Along with this, NDRF also in Gurdaspur. NDRF teams have reached the area around Beas with the help of motor boats and people are being evacuated.

Flood conditions have started to develop in Punjab once again. The country’s second largest Bhakra Dam on the Sutlej River and the Pong Dam on the Beas River have both reached the danger mark. After 35 years, Bhakra’s floodgates were opened by more than 10 feet, which were closed late at night.
