Patwari arrested on the charge of taking 1500 rupees instead of the original fee of 80 rupees for the map

Anti Corruption Campaign: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Patwari Harbans Lal posted at Mall Halka Noormahal of Jalandhar district on the charge of taking Rs 1500 for village map (Aks Chhajra) which government fee is only Rs 80.

The spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said that Narinder Singh resident of village Ramewal filed a complaint on anti-corruption action line 9501200200 on 30-06-2023 that his maternal uncle needed a map, due to which he went to the said patwari with his patwari on 23-06-2023 but the patwari asked him to come on 26th June. When he went to the Patwari’s office on June 26, he took Rs 1,500 from him in exchange for a map, whereas the government fee for this map was only Rs 80.

The spokesperson said that after the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau registered an FIR against the accused Patwari Harbans Lal under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Jalandhar Range. He was arrested today after registering No. 19 dated 24-07-2023.
