The case related to the misleading advertisement of yoga guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurveda was heard again in the Supreme Court today. The matter was heard by a division bench of Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra. Meanwhile, Justice Amanullah got angry and asked the lawyer representing Patanjali Ayurveda how dare you print misleading advertisement despite the court order.

According to the Bar and Bench, Justice Ahsanuddin said, “Despite our orders, you have the audacity to bring this advertisement. Are you tempting the court?” Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah added, “I have brought the printout and annexure. We are going to give very strict orders today. Check out this ad. How can you say you will fix everything? Despite our warnings, you are saying this? Are our products better than chemical based drugs?

Let us tell you that the Indian Medical Association had filed a petition against the misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda. The petition has sought action against Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda for defaming evidence-based medicine. In the previous hearing, the court had ordered Patanjali not to publish such advertisements. The court had warned that a fine of Rs 1 crore can be imposed on doing so.

It is alleged that Baba Ramdev's company Patanjali Ayurveda published misleading advertisements in newspapers against the evidence-based modern medical system and claimed to cure patients with its medicine. Last year too, on the petition of the Indian Medical Association, the court had issued a notice to Baba Ramdev for giving a statement against modern medical systems like allopathy. The court had then said that it could not allow this to become an Allopathy vs. Ayurveda battle.
