Badal: Former Chief Minister of Punjab late Parkash Singh Badal has been cremated in Badal village in the garden planted by him 25 years ago. Badal’s Chikha was lit by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal and grandson Anantbir Singh. The atmosphere turned emotional when Sukhbir Singh Badal broke down into tears while bidding his father farewell before lighting the fire.

About 2 acres of garden was plowed for the cremation while arrangements were made in the surrounding fields for parking. This place is on the main road near the government hospital while coming from Lambi to Badal village. His memorial will also be built at the same place.

A large number of people arrived at his residence this morning for darshan of the body. On this occasion, political figures also reached his residence. NCP President Sharad Pawar reached Badal’s village to pay homage to him. Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann and Governor Banwari Lal Purohit along with other big leaders of many parties also came to pay their last farewell to the departed leader.

The trolley was decorated with flowers for the final journey to the cremation ground. In which the body of the former Chief Minister of Punjab was kept. Two other members of the family and other relatives also boarded in the same trolley. Meanwhile, son Sukhbir Singh Badal, nephew Manpreet Singh Badal and grandson Anantbir Singh shouldered their burden. At the last moment, the Punjab police personnel raised their arms and saluted him. Ardasiye Singh Bhai Baljit Singh of Shri Akal Takht Sahib prayed before lighting the flame.
