A day after Victory Day, 50 years after India’s victory in the 1971 war, India and Pakistan will once again face each other. This time too, the battle between the two countries is on Bangladeshi soil.
Don’t worry too much, this time India and Pakistan are not face to face on the battlefield but the teams of both the countries will be face to face on the hockey field. Coincidentally, the match will be played on Bangladeshi soil. In fact, the two teams will meet in Dhaka on Friday. The group stage match of the Asian Champions Trophy tournament will be played in Dhaka tomorrow.
Let me tell you that in the final of the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan were declared joint winners due to rain in Oman. In addition, India and Pakistan have played against each other in the 2011, 2012 and 2016 Asian Champions Trophy. India is leading 4-2 in the number of matches played so far between India and Pakistan in the Asian Champions Trophy. This time India have played two matches in the tournament so far. The Indian team drew 2-2 with South Korea in the first match and defeated Bangladesh 9-0 in the second match.
Let me remind you that this time the Indian team has won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Pakistan, on the other hand, have failed to qualify for the Olympics twice in the past. The match will start at 3 pm on Friday at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in Dhaka.
