International Nurses Day: Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh thanked the nurses of Punjab for their selfless and dedicated services for the betterment of humanity on the eve of International Nurses Day on Thursday.
He said that nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, and their experience and expertise are vital to improving healthcare outcomes. During the Covid-19 pandemic in Punjab, nurses were at the forefront, providing adequate care to patients as well as taking care of their families during this difficult time. He added that it is very important to recognize the role played by nurses in the healthcare system and their significant contribution to the health and well-being of the people.
International Nurses Day is celebrated globally on May 12 every year to recognize the exceptional contribution made by nurses to healthcare and society as a whole. The day is celebrated as a tribute to Florence Nightingale, a nurse who served humanity during the Crimean War of 1853-1856, saving the lives of many soldiers and setting an example of selfless service with dedication. In the year 1974, the International Nursing Council recognized this day as International Nurses Day.
Dr. Appreciating the important role played by nurses in the nursing profession and the health care system, Balbir Singh thanked all the nurses for their unwavering commitment to their profession, patients and society.
Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Adarshpal Kaur said that the Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department is celebrating this day by organizing various events and activities across the state. He congratulated the nurses and highlighted their important role in patient care. He added that we cannot imagine the complete treatment of a patient without the services of nurses, who provide care services to patients in health institutions.
Director Health Services (Family Welfare) Dr. Ravinder Pal Kaur said that the theme of this year’s International Nurses Day is ‘Our Nurses Our Future’, which aims to bring the valuable services of nurses to the attention of policy makers, the public and partners who make healthcare delivery and financing decisions. To shed light on K nurses and their bright future. He added that we will continue to support our nurses.
On this occasion Dr. Ravinderpal Kaur Director National Health Mission Dr. SP Singh released a poster showing the contribution of nurses on the occasion of International Nurses Day. On this occasion Principal S.I.H..F.W.D.R. Jaswinder Kumari and State Program Officer (MCH) Dr. Inderdeep Kaur was also present.
