Mohali, February 17: The special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mohali has convicted the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Kulwinderjit Singh alias Khanpuria.

Khanpuria was produced before the court via videoconferencing. He was held guilty of waging war against the country and collecting and distributing arms and ammunition.

Khanpuria was arrested by NIA from IGI Airport in New Delhi on November 22. He had alliances with terrorist organisations such as the BKI and the Khalistan Liberation Force. Khanpuria, who was absconding since 2019, has been involved and wanted in many terrorist cases, including the conspiracy to carry out targeted killings in Punjab.

According to the charge sheet filed against Khanpuria, he entered into a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy with accomplices Ravinderpal Singh, Jagdev Singh and Harcharan Singh. The conspiracy involved carrying out a large-scale terrorist attack in the country.
