Bureau Report: After almost 2 months, the parents of Waris Punjab chief Amritpal Singh have met with him. Mother Balwinder Kaur and father Tarsem Singh along with the former MP of Barnala came to meet their son in Dibrugarh Jail. During this, he also met his uncle Harjit Singh. After meeting their son, Amritpal Singh’s parents said that the first meeting was in jail. Mother Balwinder Kaur said, “My son is in high school.” The government is bullying them. The mother appealed to the central and state governments to release Amritpal Singh and his associates immediately. The father said that as long as Amritpal Singh is in jail, someone from home will keep coming to visit him. Parents had brought some food and drinks. But the administration kept all the goods. The parents said that the prison administration has said that whatever belongings they have brought will be checked and delivered to Amritpal Singh. 14 days ago Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur had reached Dibrugarh Jail along with Daljit Kalsi’s wife.

Lawyers will apply for bail

When the police started the campaign to arrest Amritpal Singh on March 18, almost a month after that, on April 23, Amritpal Singh was arrested by the police from Rode village in Moga. After that he too was taken to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam along with 9 other Sikh prisoners under NSA by special plane.
Earlier, uncle Harpreet Singh, close associate Papalpreet Singh were also brought to Dibrugarh jail by the police along with other prisoners. Along with Amripal Singh’s father, former MP Advocate Rajdev Singh Khalsa from Barnala and lawyer Brij Sharma also reached Dibrugarh Jail with the family. Lawyer Brij Sharma said that he has met Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh. They will apply for bail for all Sikh prisoners in Punjab, who are not under NSA.

SGPC had earlier introduced 9 prisoners

On May 4, Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) team met Amritpal Singh. Amritpal Singh had said that he is in the ascendant and he wants that all the Sikh prisoners should not have separate lawyers but a joint panel of lawyers should be prepared. Earlier, the SGPC had arranged for 9 other families to be reunited with the Sikh prisoners. The families were first taken to Delhi and then airlifted to Assam.
