The NGT bench also recorded the report of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas. In which the actual calculation of stubble burning incidents in 2022 and the targets to reduce them during this period were given. The tribunal directed the PPCB to prepare and keep on record an area-wise crop residue management plan.

Most cases of stubble burning in Sangrur

It should be said that the most cases of stubble burning in Punjab have come to light in Sangrur. Here, 9,705 farm fires were recorded in 2020, 8,006 in 2021 and 5,239 in 2022.
