Patna. Former Vice Chancellor of Magadh University Rajendra Prasad has finally surrendered. Former Vice-Chancellor Rajendra Prasad, who has been absconding for a long time, surrendered in the Vigilance Court on Wednesday. Illegal appointment in Magadh University, tender scam and other cases including a scam of about Rs 30 crores have been leveled against former Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Prasad. A case has been registered against him for these financial irregularities. The surveillance team was looking for him after the courts rejected his bail plea.

Bail was not found after many serious allegations

According to the information, after getting the primary evidence after registering the FIR against the former Vice-Chancellor, the Special Monitoring Unit, in 2021, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. The bases of Rajendra Prasad were raided. During the raid, SVU got hold of many important documents and evidence including cash, but Rajendra Prasad avoided special monitoring by using the influence of his position. After pressure, he resigned from the post of Vice Chancellor in May 2022. Meanwhile, Rajendra Prasad reached the Supreme Court with an anticipatory bail petition, but the court rejected it. Since then the vigilance was looking for him and the former Vice Chancellor was absconding.

Rajendra Prasad was continuously absconding from the police

Here, the team of Special Vigilance Unit of Vigilance was continuously conducting raids from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh for the arrest of Vice Chancellor Rajendra Prasad. When the former Vice Chancellor was not arrested even after several attempts, the SVU also changed the investigating officer of the case. The responsibility of investigating this matter was handed over to SP level officer Chandrabhushan. Along with this, two Inspector level officers were also deployed in it.

The raid took place on Sunday as well

Now SVU increased its pressure against Rajendra Prasad. After getting permission from the monitoring court, the SVU team visited Prof. Gorakhpur on Sunday. Rajendra Prasad’s residence and educational institution were raided, but Rajendra Prasad managed to escape. In view of the increasing pressure of the investigating agency, on Wednesday, the accused former Vice Chancellor Rajendra Prasad finally surrendered after reaching the special monitoring court.
