During the tension between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, former state president of Congress Navjot Sidhu has given suggestions to the leaders of both the parties. This suggestion of Navjot Sidhu has come amid the controversy between the leaders of both the parties after the arrest of MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in Punjab. In his statement, Sidhu has described the INDIA alliance as a high mountain.

Sidhu said in his tweet- INDIA alliance stands like a high mountain. Small storms will not affect its splendor. Any attempt to break this shield to protect our democracy will prove futile. Punjab has to understand that this is an election to elect the Prime Minister of India and not the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Tried to convince the party leaders

Sidhu clearly said that the INDIA alliance should not be affected after the arrest of Sukhpal Khaira. He said that the leaders of both the parties have to understand that this alliance is for the elections for the post of Prime Minister and not for the post of Chief Minister. Therefore, it would be better that the alliance should not be affected by the issues of Punjab, nor should the INDIA alliance be mentioned in the issues of the state.

Why did this controversy begin?

After the arrest of MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the dispute between AAP-Congress has started again in Punjab. Khaira was arrested by the Punjab Police on Thursday in a 2015 drug smuggling case. After the arrest, Khaira was produced in the Jalalabad court of Fazilka. Khair has now been sent to judicial custody after the 2-day remand is over.
