Muktsar bus accident – search for people stuck in the canal continues, the families are in dire condition

After the bus accident in Punjab’s Muktsar district on Tuesday, the administration has started efforts to search for some people, seeing the possibility of being washed away in the canal. NDRF teams are engaged in finding bodies in the canal. The bodies of all the 8 people killed in this accident were handed over to their families after the post-mortem on Tuesday late evening.

The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon. A bus of New Deep Private Bus Company broke the railing and fell into the Sirhand feeder canal due to high speed during rain near village Waring on Muktsar Kotakpura road.

So far the bodies of 8 people have been recovered. Who have also been identified. Due to this, 11 people were injured, while around 40 people were rescued by the people of nearby villages and the police administration.

A case has been registered against the driver-conductor
On the other hand, the police have registered a case against the driver and conductor on the charge of driving the bus negligently. In this regard, Tar Singh, a resident of village Katianwali, had given a complaint to the police. After which the police took action.

1. The bus was going to Amritsar
In the complaint given to the police, Tar Singh said that his younger sister Preeto Kaur had come from Tarn Taran to Katianwali village to meet him. He came to Malot bus stand from Katianwali village around 11 am to drop her off. From here we boarded the New Deep bus which went to Amritsar.

2. The conductor asked the driver to drive the bus faster
Meanwhile, the conductor of the bus was asking the driver Khushpinder Singh to drive the bus faster. Take a bus from Muktsar. Do not go to the bus stand here. On this the driver Khushpinder Singh told the conductor that Harjit Singh should whistle once and see how I drive the bus. After this, as soon as the driver got out of the bus stand, he started driving the bus at high speed and recklessly.

3. The passengers stopped the bus from speeding
Due to the bad condition of the road and the high speed on the way, the passengers asked the driver and conductor not to drive the bus so fast. On this he said that we do not have time. You sit quietly. Meanwhile, when the bus reached the Jhabelwali canal bridge, the driver Khushpinder Singh lost control and broke the railing of the Sirhand feeder canal and crashed into the canal.

4. The glass of the bus broke, some people got swept away in the water.
The front part of the bus got submerged in water. While the glass of the bus was broken, some passengers were swept into the water. 8 people died. Some passengers were pulled out of the bus by passers-by. In this incident, his sister Pritam Kaur alias Preeto died due to drowning.

Based on the statements of the complainant, the police have registered a case against driver Khushpinder Singh and conductor Harjit Singh under section 304, 279, 337, 427 and started further action.
