Congress leader criticizing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Kamal Nath Alleged that he is making many hollow promises before the elections to remain in power. This statement of Kamal Nath came just a few days after Chouhan launched the ‘Chief Minister Ladli Bahna Yojana’. Under this scheme, one crore women of the state will be given financial assistance of Rs 1,000 every month, whose annual family income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh. A provision of Rs 8,000 crore has been made for this in the budget of Madhya Pradesh.

BJP was defeated in the 2018 assembly elections

Let us discuss here that assembly elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh at the end of this year. Talking about the 2018 assembly elections, this year the Congress defeated the BJP, but after a few months the Congress government fell in the state. If you remember, BJP was in power continuously from 2003 to 2018 in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP had to face defeat in the 2018 assembly elections. Out of 230 seats, 108 seats came in BJP’s account.

At the same time, the Congress was in control of the government by winning 114 seats. Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government returned to power in Madhya Pradesh when 21 Congress MLAs resigned from their party in March 2020 and joined the BJP.

Kamal Nath’s promise

Addressing a public meeting in Narsinghpur on Sunday, Kamal Nath said that I announce today that if the Congress government is formed in Madhya Pradesh, many important decisions will be taken. Women will be given Rs 1,500 per month and a (filled) cooking gas cylinder will be given for Rs 500. At present, the price of LPG cylinder in the state is around Rs.1,108.
