Monkey fever
The increasing cases of monkey fever have raised the concern of many states. The highest number of cases are reported in Karnataka along with Goa and Maharashtra. So far more than 64 cases have been reported in Karnataka alone. This year too, two people have lost their lives due to this fever. After these two deaths, the administration has also become alert and is making all possible preparations to deal with this virus as there is no specific treatment for this disease so far.
Delhi senior doctor Ajay Kumar says that cases of monkey fever are increasing in many states of the country. This disease is caused by the bites of insects living on the body of monkeys. These insects can also infect humans. Till date no medicine or vaccine has been developed for monkey fever. The patient is treated based on the symptoms. Doctors say that monkey fever is caused by both viruses and bacteria. There are many strains for which vaccines have not been developed. Cases of this disease are also less.

Symptoms of monkey fever
If we talk about the fever caused by this virus, the symptoms like high fever, headache, muscle pain, weakness, vomiting and diarrhea and bleeding from the gums are seen. In such a case, it can be avoided by taking special precautions.

The health department says the first death due to monkey fever, also known as Kiasnoor Forest Disease, was reported on January 8 in Hosanagar in Shivamoga district. In which an 18-year-old girl lost her life due to this virus. The second death was of a 79-year-old man in Manipal in Udupi district. The cases of this disease are continuously increasing due to which the administration and the health department are very worried and important meetings are being held to prevent it.
How does monkey fever spread?
It is a viral disease, caused by the Kayasanur forest disease virus. The disease is spread from animals to humans. The disease is mostly spread in areas where monkey population is high. The disease was first reported in 1957 in the dense forests of Karnataka. It is caused by the bite of worms found in the body of monkeys in humans.
How to protect
According to medical reports, there is no specific treatment for monkey fever. Prevention is the only way. To prevent the infection of this disease, vaccinations are administered by the health department in the affected areas. To avoid this, keep drinking more water and take special care of hygiene.
