Doctors say that monkey fever is caused by both viruses and bacteria. There are many strains for which vaccines have not been developed. Cases of this disease are also less.

Symptoms of monkey fever

The health department says the first death due to monkey fever, also known as Kiasnoor Forest Disease, was reported on January 8 in Hosanagar in Shivamoga district. In which an 18-year-old girl lost her life due to this virus. The second death was of a 79-year-old man in Manipal in Udupi district. The cases of this disease are continuously increasing due to which the administration and the health department are very worried and important meetings are being held to prevent it.

How does monkey fever spread?

It is a viral disease, caused by the Kayasanur forest disease virus. The disease is spread from animals to humans. The disease is mostly spread in areas where monkey population is high. The disease was first reported in 1957 in the dense forests of Karnataka. It is caused by the bite of worms found in the body of monkeys in humans.

How to protect

According to medical reports, there is no specific treatment for monkey fever. Prevention is the only way. To prevent the infection of this disease, vaccinations are administered by the health department in the affected areas. To avoid this, keep drinking more water and take special care of hygiene.
