Mock drills conducted in Punjab hospitals

Punjab News: In view of the rapidly increasing cases of Covid-19 across the country, mock drills were conducted in hospitals across Punjab on Monday and Tuesday to review the preparedness of Covid-19 and effectively deal with any emergency.

The two-day operation was part of the country-wide mock drills under the directives issued by the central government to ensure Covid preparedness in public and private health facilities.

Health and Family Welfare Minister of Punjab, who is constantly reviewing the situation. Balbir Singh has directed all health officials to be fully prepared to deal with any type of medical condition related to Covid. Apart from instructing those health institutions to keep adequate stock of medicines, adequate number of beds and ventilators, face masks, PPE. Also asked to maintain arrangements like kits, oxygen cylinders, oxygen plant.

He also directed the health department to speed up Covid-19 testing. Stating that the situation is under control and people need not panic, Dr. Balbir Singh urged people to strictly follow health and safety protocols including social distancing, wearing masks and frequent hand washing to prevent the spread of the Corona virus.

He said that if one has a cold, fever, or cough, he should not go to public places and always wear a mask when going out. People who are sick and have low immunity should avoid going out of the house and going to crowded places.

Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Adarshpal Kaur told the minister that Punjab has arranged around 15000 beds in private and government health institutions for Covid patients and adequate number of oxygen cylinders, LMOs to deal with any untoward situation. Tank and PSA Plants are available. Meanwhile, the health minister also appealed to the people to avoid rumours.
