Seven youths living in Gurmel Park near Tibba Road, Ludhiana, who had gone to bathe in Budha Darya Dhanas to relieve the heat, met with a major accident. The other 5 friends tried hard to save the two drowning friends but they could not be saved.
Hearing the screams of the youth, people gathered. People tried to save the drowning youth at their level but both the youth died in front of the people. The deceased youths have been identified as Mohtram and Sahib.
The rest of the friends present at the spot informed the relatives of the deceased, and the police were also informed about it. The police reached the spot and took out the dead bodies with the help of divers.
Mustaqeem Salmani, father of the deceased Mohtram, said that his sister-in-law’s son Sahib also lived with him. In the morning, all the friends went to take a bath in the swimming pool. It is not known how all the youths reached Li Dhansu for bathing.
At present, the dead body has been kept in the civil hospital. The bodies will be handed over to the heirs after the post-mortem. Police are investigating the matter.
