Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar today termed the budget presented by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government as encouraging agricultural support occupations. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Rs 13 crore has been set aside for the first time to run mobile veterinary units for treatment of animals and minor operations to farmers’ homes. The Cabinet Minister emphasized that this unique project will provide immediate health facilities to animals in case of any emergency.

He said that recently the state government has purchased 25 lakh doses of goat pox vaccine so that all the cows in the state can be vaccinated. He said that so far 7.45 lakh animals have been vaccinated.

Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Rs 10 crore has been earmarked to increase the current 1,212 acres under shrimp cultivation to 5,000 acres in the next 5 years, which will help to take this agricultural subsidiary occupation to new heights.

He said that for the preservation of fish, shrimp and related products, it is proposed to establish an ice plant with a capacity of 30 tons with government subsidy, while a mini fish feed mill with a capacity of two tons was established with government subsidy at district Jalandhar. is
