‘Addressed public meetings at Mahendraganj, Rongjeng, Mendipathar and Kharkutta in Garo Hills region’
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier on Saturday addressed four public meetings at Mahendraganj, Rongjeng, Mendipathar and Kharkutta in the Garo Hills region. Asking people to vote for the BJP and elect the party’s candidates in their respective areas, Sarma drew their attention to the pace of execution of central government schemes in Assam as compared to Meghalaya.
‘Fewer families benefited from important schemes in Meghalaya than in Assam’
Assam CM claimed that very few families in Meghalaya have got the benefits of important schemes like PM Awas Yojana as compared to Assam. Sarma said, “If the BJP government is elected in the state, then these schemes will reach the people in true sense as corruption from the middle will be removed.” He also talked about Arun Uday, which he claimed was running successfully in Assam, adding that under this scheme, an unmarried or elderly woman from each BPL family received Rs 1,200 on the 10th of every month.
