Preparations for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 reviewed

A team of the Election Commission of India met with the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and State Police Nodal Officers (SPNOs) of 8 states and UTs at Chandigarh regarding the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024. A one day conference cum review meeting was held.

The Election Commission team consists of Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Dharmendra Sharma and Nitesh Kumar Vyas, Deputy Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar Sahu, Senior Principal Secretary N.N. Butalia, director Ashok Kumar and Pankaj Srivastava were present.

During this meeting, Chief Electoral Officers and State Police Nodal Officers of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Ladakh gave detailed presentations about the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections to be held in the year 2024.

In the meeting, the Election Commission team was apprised of the law and order situation in the states, details of voters and polling stations and all the preparations related to the upcoming elections.

The Election Commission of India has directed all Chief Electoral Officers and State Police Nodal Officers to ensure error-free electoral roll, SSR. (Special Summary Amendment 2024) suggestions for various activities to be carried out, improvement of various indices related to voter registration, registration of all eligible voters and casting of ballots of dead and duplicate voters and preparations regarding logistical requirements for the election and gave instructions

Apart from this, the number of voters during the review meeting, various IT. Scrutiny of applications, expenditure management and seizure, training of various election related officers/staff and capacity building were also reviewed in detail.
