Mal patwari taking bribe was caught red-handed by Vigilance

During its anti-corruption campaign, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today caught Mal Patwari Narinder Kumar alias Neeta red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered against the said employee of the revenue department on the complaint of Surjit Singh, a resident of Malot town of Sri Muktsar Sahib district.

Giving further details, he said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said patwari had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 in exchange for the transfer of his land and he had taken Rs 2,000 from him once and Rs 1,000 the second time. The complainant further alleged that the said patwari is demanding Rs 3000 more in lieu of recording the transfer in the revenue record and he has recorded the entire conversation of the patwari asking for bribe.

The spokesman further said that the vigilance unit of Bathinda range laid a trap after investigating the allegations made in the complaint and caught the accused patwari red-handed after taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.

In this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Bathinda Range against the said revenue employee.
