KCR targets Modi government, says- Center should show the same love towards the general public, as it is for Adani

Nanded: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday demanded a discussion on the alleged ‘scam’ of the Adani Group in the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). He targeted the Center over coal imports and its “love” for Adani. Chandrasekhar Rao claimed that the Union government is pressurizing the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to make false statements regarding the risk involved in the Adani Group.

He alleged that the Indian banking system is involved in this problem and the whole country is worried. Talking to reporters after addressing a public meeting in Maharashtra’s Nanded, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief alleged that the Center was forcing states to import coal, which was being supplied only by the Adani group. He said that coal import amounts to ‘cheating’ the country and this situation will change after the BRS comes to power.

Chandrasekhar Rao alleged, “I request the Prime Minister that the Adani group is involved in such a big scam that it should be discussed in the Joint Parliamentary Committee. About 10 lakh crore rupees have flown away. He said, “Everyone knows that he (Adani) is your friend. In just two years, he became the third richest person in the world. If you are honest then form a Joint Parliamentary Committee. This is my demand. The BRS chief claimed that LIC’s Adani group has invested Rs 80,000 crore, but to mislead the nation, the Center is pressurizing LIC to make false statements that it is not in danger.

He said, “LIC is the world’s largest and best performing insurance company, but why is the government interfering? Speaking on the coal situation, the Telangana chief minister said the country has enough coal reserves to last for the next 120 years, but the central government is forcing states to buy imported coal, which is supplied only by the Adani group. He said, “The kind of love that the Center has for Adani, the same love should be for the people of the country.”

Significantly, the US-based Hindenburg Research has made other allegations on the Adani group, including inflating the share price, due to which its shares have fallen heavily. Adani Group has denied the allegations as false and said that it abides by all laws. Chandrasekhar Rao said, “The import of coal is a betrayal of the country. Coal India Limited has already said that it has paid the amount for laying 250 km long rail track, which will increase our coal production manifold. But the central government is not allowing this to happen.”

However, he did not specify which rail line he was talking about. The BRS president said, “If we use all the coal mines present in the country in a proper way, then we will not need to import even a single kilogram of coal from any other country. This will change once the BRS comes to power.”
