The said lineman has been arrested on the complaint of Pradeep Kumar, resident of village Bazidpur Katianwali, who runs Balaji Milk Center in his village.
Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the complainant Pradeep Kumar had approached the Fazilka unit of the Vigilance Bureau Ferozepur range and filed a complaint that the lineman Mahinder Kumar had paid the electricity bill of Rs 73,790 in the month of April, 2023 of Balaji Milk Centre. Demanded Rs 40,000 as bribe in exchange for settlement.
The complainant said that he had previously received an electricity bill of Rs 52,360 in the month of February and the said lineman had charged him Rs 21,000 for correcting this electricity bill, but when his electricity bill for the month of April came to Rs 73,790. He found that the bill for the month of February was also attached to it. So he contacted the lineman again and the lineman demanded another Rs.40,000 from him (complainant).
The spokesman said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and caught this lineman on the spot by accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.
In this regard, a case has been registered against the lineman under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Vigilance Ferozepur Range and further investigation of the matter is ongoing.
