Lineman arrested on charges of taking bribe by Vigilance Bureau

PSPCL during the campaign against corruption conducted by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau in the state. Lineman Rajesh Kumar posted at Office, Umarpura, Block Batala, District Gurdaspur has been arrested on the charge of accepting bribe of Rs.40,000.

Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above accused has been arrested on the basis of an online complaint filed by Manjinder Singh, a resident of village Sangatpura, tehsil Batala, district Gurdaspur, at the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line.

He further said that the complainant alleged in his complaint that he is the owner of agricultural land in village Sangatpura, where he had to install a new transformer for the new connection of his tubewell. In this regard, the above Rajesh Kumar lineman took a bribe of Rs. 40,000 but he did not install the transformer. When the electricity official was demanding bribe, the complainant recorded the conversation and submitted it to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.

The Vigilance Bureau Range Amritsar investigated the complaint during which the allegations were found to be correct and true. In this regard, he has been arrested under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the alleged accused Rajesh Kumar Lineman. He said that further investigation of this case is going on.
