Lawrence Bishnoi gang member arrested with pistol

Punjab Police: During the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a safe state as per Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s dream, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) of the Punjab Police on Wednesday arrested a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who used to make threatening calls to wealthy individuals in Mohali, Chandigarh and nearby areas demanding ransom.

The arrested accused has been identified as Kashmir Singh alias Bobby Shooter (24), a resident of Ghangroli village in Patiala and a taxi driver by profession. Police teams have also recovered a country pistol with two live cartridges from him.

AIG S.S.O.C. SAS Mohali Ashwini Kapur said that following several reports of extortion attempts and threatening phone calls from a man claiming to belong to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, police teams had launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter. He said that by collecting advance intelligence, the police managed to arrest Bobby from district Khanna.

AIG Kapoor said that Kashmir alias Bobby used to extort extortion by threatening rich people including night club and bar owners in Chandigarh, Mohali and other nearby areas.

It may be mentioned that a case was already registered under Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at Police Station SSOC SAS Nagar on FIR No. 10 dated 24-06-2023.
