Let us tell you that the remaining 39040 complaints were found to be related to corruption. But out of these 1206 complaints were sent to the respective departments as they were related to other departments. 37,751 complaints found irrelevant/junk. Only 83 complaints related to the Vigilance Bureau included audio-video clips. After their investigation, cases were registered only on 20 complaints.
The anti-corruption helpline web portal launched by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is receiving lakhs of complaints, but most of the cases are being dismissed as not related to bribery or vigilance operations. Crores of rupees have been spent on setting up and running anti-corruption helplines.
26 accused arrested in a month and a half
According to information received by RTI activist Manik Goyal from March 23, 2022 to May 9, 2022, out of 2,30,466 complaints received on the anti-corruption web portal, 20 cases were registered. A total of 26 accused were arrested in these cases.
13.56 lakh rupees spent for 46 days
According to the official records, a total of Rs 13 lakh 56 thousand 451.56 has been spent on the establishment and operation of the anti-corruption action line from 23 March 2022 to 9 May 2022. Since then the expenditure has continued unabated. CM Bhagwant Mann recently urged people to lodge complaints on the anti-corruption action line for bribes in government departments, demanding amounts in excess of government fees.
