ASI caught red-handed taking bribe from vigilance

Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh posted at Tibba police station, Ludhiana city on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 during the campaign against corruption in the state.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that Dr. Arun Bahl, resident of Raju Colony, Tibba Road, Ludhiana has been arrested on the complaint.

Giving further information, he said that the complainant approached the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana and alleged that the above policeman had demanded a bribe of Rs. .

The spokesperson said that EOW. A vigilance team from Ludhiana range laid a trap and the accused policeman was caught on the spot while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.

In this regard, the accused A.S.I. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Ludhiana Range of the Vigilance Bureau and further investigation of the matter is ongoing.
