Talking about mental health is still considered taboo in India. Solving the problem is a distant thing. There are some people in such a situation, who are trying to understand the mental problems of others, and who also tell their diagnosis.

He brings light to the dark side of their life with his healing. Inspires them to be better. One such helpful person is Dr. Rashi Agarwal, who is a psychiatrist by profession. With her efforts, she brings out the truth behind the myths related to mental health and also makes people aware of it.

a meaningful conversation

Dr. Rashi’s parents are doctors. Growing up under his guidance, Dr. Rashi talks about the dangers of mental health and the misinformation that creates confusion. She also talks in detail about the negative things that keep people away from treatment. Dr. Rashi candidly talks about her life and career with Health Shots. They should be appreciated for contributing to bettering the world.

Learned to help others from parents

Born and brought up in a family of doctors, Dr. Rashi knew from the beginning that she too would help others when she grew up. Dr. Rashi says, “I am thankful that my life has been like this because of my parents being doctors. Obviously, they both are my heroes and they are also my mentors. Since childhood, I have seen both of them making a difference in the lives of others. That’s why when I grew up, I felt that I should also do something for others.

Choosing psychiatry as a subject has been criticized

In recent years, there has definitely been a change in the scenario of mental health. But earlier it was not so. Dr Rashi explains, “Initially it was difficult to work with, as it was not considered traditional. In general, when you ask about psychiatric therapy, you shouldn’t expect to get the right answer the first time. People say, oh, couldn’t she have done something else? Why did you adopt it? I hope it doesn’t affect you. Your personal life will be fine. You can hear such things.

“I felt that this taboo has to be broken and I have to work hard in this field. This field was definitely different, but I used to get pleasure from solving people’s problems. It is now proving to be effective socially as well.

Social media page created to reach untold issues to the people

When talking about mental health, people look at the doctor, the disease, and the patient in the wrong light. Dr. Rashi says, “I am a healthcare provider. Me, the patient, and mental illness are also seen as stigmas. However, the scenario is changing now.”

Dr. Rashi believes that this change has also happened due to social media and lockdown. Due to this people started talking about the ‘unsaid’ issues. He started his social media page @drrshipsychiatrist for the same reason. A lot of questions were asked offline from Rashi.

‘I thought the answers were very simple,’ she says. If the answers reach more and more people, the society will surely be benefited. At that time no one was doing this. I felt this would help in reaching out to a much larger number of people. If even one person gets the correct information, then my job is done. ,

body is connected with mind

You must be thinking that your mind and body are two different things. It is not, your emotional health can be both good and bad depending on your situation. Dr. Rashi says that if your mind is not working properly, then the body will also not work properly. Your mental health can affect you physically as well.

Anxiety is linked to stomach problems, so you may not be able to eat properly. It is related to feeling. You are unable to think clearly. It could be somewhere linked to your breathing problems, palpitations or that nervousness. Yet we continue to ignore mental health issues.

She says, “I hope that one day we will be able to test for depression levels or other mental health issues along with blood tests.” This has not been possible yet.

Right treatment at right time is necessary

Psychologists emphasize that, ‘When mental health problems affect a person, his work or other things also get affected. The will to live may end. It can be scary, so seek the right treatment and the right help at the right time.

As you grow older, I think you have additional responsibilities. Which makes things more complicated. That’s why it is important that you become even more aware of your mental health.

If there is no discrimination then women will be more happy

“Believe it or not, there is still a huge gap when it comes to equal opportunities for women. Do you know that the female literacy rate in India is 62 percent, while it is 80 percent for males? To address such issues it is important to initiate change from home.

Dr. Rashi encourages families to treat their children as equals. Every next generation of women should be better than the previous generation. I am happy to see that equal educational opportunities are being given to every child. When that girl grows up, then she will be happy. This thing will automatically reduce the stress in his life.

make time for yourself

According to Dr. Rashi, no matter how busy you are or how many responsibilities you have, you must find time for yourself. Sometimes people may try to stop you or other things may become a hindrance. Make sure for yourself that you do something that you enjoy. Even if it’s just 15 minutes of listening to music or sleeping or exercising. Do what makes you happy.”

You might not know it but sleep is your best friend. When you are 21, you don’t realize its importance. Slowly as your body changes, you realize how important sleep is. At least 6-8 hours of sleep is important.

Dr. Rashi Aggarwal wants to break every myth related to mental health.

fight your battles wisely

Dr. Rashi says, ‘In your lifetime you will go through many problems and conflicts, you may not win them all. Choose your battles wisely. Life is not a bed of roses but we have to be smart about the battles we want to fight and the ones we want to leave behind. from everything trying to cope will only stress you out’’।

Healthy diet and right lifestyle is also important for mental health

You cannot underestimate the importance of a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle. It can help you deal with many things. If this doesn’t help, you can try other things. Meditation can change your life. Therapy works too. No matter how big or small the problem, treatment does not harm. Good sleep, healthy diet and occasional junk food may also be involved. You also need to create a comfort zone, what makes you happy, For example, if you love dancing, make sure you do it.
