India Australia Test Match: Police have arrested two suspects from Madhya Pradesh in connection with Khalistani supporters threatening to disrupt the India-Australia Test match. During investigation, it was revealed that the accused were issuing threats using SIM box technology.

The accused have been identified as Rahul Kumar and Narendra Kushwaha, residents of Satna in Madhya Pradesh.

A senior police officer said that the two arrested men have planted a SIM box, which makes international calls appear as local and makes it difficult to block the SIM card. This piece of hardware presents international calls as local. Also makes it difficult to block SIM cards and helps criminals to use multiple phone numbers. Nefarious elements including extortionists, scammers and international mafia can carry out anti-national activities using devices like SIM boxes. A SIM box converts Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls made from outside the country to local GSM (mobile network) calls.
Threatening video message confiscated
During the raid, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police seized a threatening video message from the location. Along with this, four routers and 11 SIM boxes were also seized. There was a provision to slot about 300 SIM cards in each box. Last week, TOI published a report detailing how SIM boxes are a threat to national security. In the last two years, three fraudulent SIM box-based exchanges were busted in Gujarat. Sim box fraud is called interconnect bypass fraud. Security agencies can track a normal VoIP call, but calls made using SIM boxes are difficult to trace.
