In both the rooms, the clothes of the world’s expensive brands were scattered on the floor. These clothes were either used only once, or were thrown away because they were dirty. When the ED officials were taking information about the clothes, Birendra Ram’s son said tauntingly: Touch the clothes and see. The cost of a shirt is at least Rs 35000. ED had put the phones of his family members on surveillance to keep an eye on Birendra Ram. During this, the information about Nawabi of his family members was received. Birendra Ram’s wife is also fond of expensive things.
While ordering an item, she instructs that she needs only that item, which is the most expensive. During the raid on the house in Jamshedpur, Birendra Ram’s wife had stopped ED officials from eating food on it, saying that her dining table was expensive. Seeing the behavior of Birendra Ram’s wife and sons during the raid, ED officials are speculating that his family members are still convinced that nothing will happen to them. There will be a cover-up in the whole matter. On the other hand, to save his life, Birendra Ram after his arrest is crying out to the ED officials about the extortion tradition going on in the department.
Process to suspend Birendra Ram started
After the arrest of Birendra Ram, Chief Engineer of Rural Development Special Division by the ED, the process of his suspension has been initiated. His parent department is water resources. His suspension order has to be issued from the paternal department itself. Birendra is currently Chief Engineer in Special Division under Rural Works Department and is in additional charge of Chief Engineer of Rural Works Department. Its process has started in the Rural Works Department on Thursday. After its report is sent to the Water Resources Department on Friday, an order for his suspension may be issued.
Commission recovery increased by 1.5 percent in the tender of rural roads while Birendra Ram was an engineer
Gradually, the impact of recovery on the contractors of Rural Works Department is increasing. Till a year ago, the contractors had to pay three per cent commission for getting the work, which has now increased to 4.5 per cent. Birendra Ram is the chief engineer here for more than a year. In this way the contractors have to pay 4.5% of the cost of the scheme for taking up a job. All this money is collected by the engineers and workers of the chief engineer’s office.
Recovery from desired contractors
In the Chief Engineer’s office, work is being given to the desired contractors for about one and a half years. Engineers are doing arbitrariness in tender settlement. L-1 contractor is being removed and work is being given to L-2 or L-3 contractors. For this additional recovery is being made from the contractors. There is a budget of 615 crores for ‘Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana’ in the current financial year. According to the provision, a plan of two and a half times i.e. about 1500 crores is being taken.
