Jharkhand Budget 2023-24: Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon presented the budget for the fourth time in the Jharkhand Assembly. Under this, a budgetary provision of Rs 8166 crore was made for rural development, Rs 1964 crore for water resources and Rs 1968 crore for strengthening Panchayati Raj.

Target to create nine crore man days

Finance Minister Dr. Oraon said in the House that the main objective is to create employment and raise the standard of living of the people of the state by increasing the sources of income in rural areas. Under this, a target has been set to create nine crore man-days for MNREGA works. A budget of Rs 1260 crore is proposed for this.

Irrigation well will be constructed on the land of one lakh farmers

He told the House that it is proposed to implement the Birsa Irrigation Well Promotion Mission by converging the MNREGA and state plans to provide irrigation wells to the farmers. Under this, irrigation wells will be constructed on the personal land of one lakh farmers. For this, a provision has been made to give 50 thousand rupees per beneficiary from the state scheme for material items and the remaining amount from the MNREGA scheme.

Mega lift irrigation projects proposed in Palamu and Patmada

The Finance Minister said that Patmada and Palamu mega lift irrigation projects are proposed in the coming financial year. Also said that to avoid the complexity of land acquisition process in Son-Kanhar Mega Lift Irrigation Project and its implementation, Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Schemes are being implemented in Maslia-Raneshwar and Deoghar-Jamtara districts in Dumak. Keeping in view the expansion of irrigation facilities and its capacity, a budget of Rs 1964 crore is proposed for the Water Resources Department.

Panchayat knowledge center will be established in every panchayat secretariat

While presenting the budget, the Finance Minister said that Panchayat Knowledge Center will be established in every Panchayat Secretariat of the state. At the same time, there is a plan to establish dialogue between the Panchayat secretariats at the district and state level and to install LED TVs for the promotion of government schemes.
