Talking about the enforcement directorate tightening its noose on Ateeq Ahmed, the Prayagraj unit had registered a case against Ateeq Ahmed about two years back. In November 2021, on the instructions of Rajeshwar Singh, joint director of ED, Lucknow office and presently MLA from Sarojini Nagar assembly of Lucknow, his plot at Phulpur in Prayagraj was attached. Atiq had bought this property in the name of his wife Shaista for Rs 4.50 crore. This matter was in the headlines then.

Along with this, the ED had also attached Rs 1.28 crore in Shaista’s account and the amount deposited in the bank accounts of several other relatives. Two months after this action, Rajeshwar Singh suddenly took VRS, then he came into politics. At the same time, after Rajeshwar Singh, two special directors were entrusted with the task, but did not get success. ED’s Prayagraj unit officials had called Atiq’s close relatives and interrogated them in the initial phase. But, gradually the matter calmed down.
Speed in the case after Umesh Pal murder
After the Umesh Pal murder case, once again there is a spurt in the cases related to Atiq. It is being said that the ED headquarters has given instructions to take immediate action in the case registered against Atiq. ED officials have started digging the file of Atiq’s properties located in Prayagraj, Kaushambi and Lucknow worth about Rs 60 crore. If defects are found in these, immediate action will be taken to attach them.
