Rio held a closed-door meeting with the new NDPP legislators at the party chief’s office to seek their opinion on government formation. NDPP sources said that most of the newly elected MLAs are living together till the formation of the government. Sources in the BJP said that the party’s MLAs will hold a coordination meeting till Sunday, which will be followed by a joint meeting with the NPPP MLAs.

37 seats won by pre-poll alliance of NDPP-BJP

Voting for the 60-member assembly elections in Nagaland was held on Monday, while the results were announced on Thursday. In this, 37 seats were won by the pre-poll alliance of NDPP-BJP, out of which NDPP got 25 and BJP got 12 seats. NDPP won 18 seats in 2018, while BJP won only 12 seats. Nationalist Congress Party won seven seats, NPF five and Naga People’s Front, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and RPI (Athawale) two seats each. The Janata Dal (United) has won one seat, while four independents have won.
