The special investigation team (SIT) headed by the new DIG of Patiala range, Harcharan Singh Bhullar, will now investigate the drug trafficking case registered against Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia. After the retirement of ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, the government has restructured the SIT.
Patiala SSP Varun Sharma and Dhuri SP Yogesh Sharma have been included as members in the SIT. A case was registered against Majithia in the Crime Branch on 20 August 2021.
ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina was earlier assigned the command of the SIT to investigate the matter. He was the head of this SIT for eight months. He sent a summons on December 11 and summoned Majithia on December 18. Then on December 30, Majithia was interrogated for four hours.
