The transport minister did a sudden check of the buses, the challans of many buses were cut

Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar today checked buses at three places near Jalandhar and the city. In the presence of the Cabinet Minister, 21 buses were challaned for various violations including seizure of two buses running without documents or incomplete documents. The challaned buses also include two government buses, which were plying on an unauthorized route.

The Cabinet Minister and his team, with the intention of ensuring the safety of the people on the roads of the state and the compliance of the traffic rules by the bus drivers, around the Jalandhar bus stand, Kishangarh on the Jalandhar-Pathankot road and on the Jalandhar-Amritsar road. A total of 56 buses were checked during the checking done at Kartarpur.

Meanwhile, bus number NL-02B 3020 of Vijay Bus Service was fined Rs 50,000 for plying without the necessary approval from the Regional Transport Authority. Khaira Sleepers bus number UP-31T 3737 was charged Rs 50,000 due to overcapacity of passengers. Apart from this, bus number PB-01C 9726 of Indo-Canadian Service was fined Rs 10,000 for violation of permit norms.

Similarly, due to violation of traffic rules and incomplete documents, challans of more than 2 lakh rupees were deducted from 18 private buses, including three buses of Kartar Bus, two each of Patiala Express and Patiala Highways and Nijhar Mini Bus, Prakash Bus, One bus each of Libra Bus, Sheikhupura Bus Service, Narwal Bus, Baiji Transport, Rajguru and Mohali Bus are included while two buses of Pyar Bus and Kartar Bus Service running without documents were seized on the spot.

During the checking at Kartarpur, the Transport Minister found two Punjab Roadways buses (No. PB-08-EC 4529 and PB-65-AT 0543) plying on an unspecified route. The drivers of both the buses were challaned for plying unauthorized routes.

The Transport Minister said that no bus will be allowed to run without proper documents and permits. He said that the surprise checking campaign will be intensified in the future. He directed the officials to deduct the challans of the buses violating the prescribed rules and confiscate them.
