The jurisdiction of 20 police stations will be affected by this order. The Central Government has issued this order under Section 7 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1985.

Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and farmers' organizations had raised the issue of internet shutdown in many districts of Punjab, but despite this, ignoring their point, the Center has decided to continue its orders. Chief Minister Mann had written a letter to the Center asking it to start internet with immediate effect and had also raised the issue in a meeting with Union ministers.

Internet service will remain closed in Shambhu, Julkan, Pasiana, Patdar, Shutrana, Samana, Ghanoor, Devigarh and Balbera police stations of Patiala district. Apart from this, internet service was suspended in Mohali police station Lalru, Bathinda police station Sangat, Sri Muktsar Sahib police station Khialanwali, Mansa police station Sardulgarh, Sangrur police station Khanori, Moonak, Lehra, Sunam, Jhajji and Fatehgarh Sahib police station Sadar Fatehgarh Sahib area. will remain
