Indians spent 1.137 billion dollars on foreign trips in December

In the first 9 months of this financial year i.e. 2022-23, Indians have spent a total of 10 billion dollars on foreign travel.
During April-December 2022, Indians spent a total of $10 billion on overseas travel, the highest in any financial year so far.
If compared to the pre-Covid period figures, it was the highest in FY2020 when Indians spent a total of $7 billion on foreign travel.
In December 2022 alone, Indians spent a total of $1.137 billion on foreign travel, according to data released by the country’s central bank, the Reserve Bank of India. Based on this, the country’s total cross-border holiday spending during April-December 2022 rose to $9.947 billion.
Looking at the remittance data, Indians have sent an amount of 19,354 million dollars in the current financial year. It is viewed on the basis of expenditure incurred in foreign currency and includes expenditure on education, visiting relatives, gifts and investment.
This figure is close to the total expenditure incurred in FY 2022 ie $19,610 million and sent in the form of remittances during this period.
