Indian student died during carjacking in Canada

Indian Student Gurvinder Nath Murdered in Canada: A 24-year-old Indian student working as a food delivery partner in Canada died after being fatally attacked during a carjacking. According to a CTV News Channel report, Gurwinder Nath was delivering pizzas at Britannia and Creditview Streets in Mississauga on July 9 around 2:10 a.m. when unknown suspects attacked him and attempted to steal his vehicle.

Inspector Phil King of Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau said, “Investigators believe there are multiple suspects involved in this incident and that food was ordered in the area to implicate the driver.” He said that the investigation has found an audio recording of the pizza order given before the attack.

Police said that when Gurvinder Nath arrived, a suspect attacked him and seriously injured him. After that, they ran away from the spot after looting their vehicle. Several witnesses came to Gurvinder Nath’s aid and pleaded for help before he was taken to the trauma center, where he was declared brought dead on July 14.

India’s consul general in Toronto, Siddharth Nath, said Nath’s death was a “heartbreaking incident” and offered his condolences to family members, friends and the wider community. In the CBC report, he said that the Consulate General has contacted the family after his death.

Police say there is no known connection between Nath and his assailants. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) said that Nath’s body will be brought to India on July 27 with the help of the Indian Consulate General in Toronto.

Last week, CTV News Toronto spoke with family and friends of Nath, who said the Brampton resident was on summer vacation before returning for his final semester of business school. Balaram Krishna, Nath’s cousin, said he was innocent, just delivering pizzas when some men attacked him on the head. He arrived in Canada from India in July 2021 and planned to open his own business.
