Reacting to the decision given by the Supreme Court in the case of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who has been detained in jail for the last 28 years, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has said that now it is the responsibility of the central government to release Bhai Rajoana. Communicate the sentence and announce his release.

He said that the Supreme Court has directed the Home Ministry to take a decision in Bhai Rajoana’s case, so now the government has to take action. Advocate Dhami said that the Government of India has already issued a notification regarding the commutation of Bhai Rajoana’s sentence on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, in view of which the government should take an immediate decision.

By implementing this notification of 2019, the government should also decide to release Bhai Rajoana, as he has served more than life imprisonment. Bhai Rajoana has also been deprived of parole during detention in jail.

Advocate Dhami said that the Sikh leaders in the Bharatiya Janata Party should also put pressure on the government regarding the case of Bhai Rajoana. This is a testing hour for the Sikh leaders in the BJP. He said that this matter is the Chairman of the National Minority Commission. It is also time for Iqbal Singh Lalpura to fulfill his duties.

Since the responsibility of the National Minority Commission is to ensure that the rights and interests of the minority communities are observed, therefore S. Lalpura are liable. The Shiromani Committee president said that human rights are being violated in the cases of captive Sikhs, due to which there is a lot of protest in the Sikh community.
