Amritsar: SGPC has taken a big decision regarding Gurbani broadcasting. After the recommendations of the sub-committee, now SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami has announced that the committee will start its 24-hour you tube channel from 24th January 2023. It will be called ‘Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib Sri Amritsar’ on which the logo of SGPC will be affixed.

All rights of Gurbani broadcast will be held by SGPC. No other channel shall have right to restream. Apart from this, SGPC is also going to open its new satellite channel, for this the committee has written a letter to the Ministry of Information of India. An appointment has also been sought from the Information Minister in this matter. But the SGPC has not made it clear what will happen to PTC’s satellite contract, which is ending on July 24. Because SGPC will still take time to start TV channels.

According to sources, SGPC may extend PTC’s contract for the next three months. PTC has also sought an extension of 3 months from SGPC. SGPC president said that we used to get Rs 2 crore from SGPC every year but now we have to spend money to do our telecast.

Agreement with the company for the production of Gurbani

SGPC had sought quotations from various companies for the production of Gurbani. For which three companies had applied. The name of the first company was Delhi’s Lamhas Satellite Private Limited, which asked for 21 lakh rupees per month, for which the company offered to install four cameras. The second company was Science Star which had quoted a telecast at 12 lakh 20 thousand per month.

Anskriti Communication, a New Delhi based company, offered to telecast for 12 lakhs per month. After going through all the quotations, the sub-committee recommended that the company with the lowest offer of 12 lakhs should be allowed to do the production. President SGPC said that this agreement is only for 3 months. The committee will prepare its cameras and team soon. The president of SGPC said that the sub-committee had also recommended to open its own satellite channel, which has been approved. For this SGPC will form a company through which the license will be applied for.

Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of SGPC for satellite channel, said that we have sent an e-mail and now the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will also meet the sub-committee and will request to issue the license as soon as possible. Pradhan said that the committee will also hire a team of consultants and prepare a studio for the live telecast. Also, no one should misuse SGPC’s Gurbani you tube channel, so no channel will have the right to restream. The President of SGPC said that the order issued by Shri Akal Takht has been completed and now the information is being given to Jathedar Sahib.

An attack on the Punjab government as well

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami also attacked the Hon’ble government over the Gurbani Broadcasting Bill. He said that this bill was brought for the purpose of encroaching on the Guru Asthana. The Act was amended to bake political bread but the SGPC would never allow it to succeed. The Gurbani Broadcasting Amendment Bill 2023 was passed in the special session of the Legislative Assembly last month, which is now before the Governor for assent. In this, the government had given all the rights to broadcast Gurbani to SGPC.
