Chandigarh: An important meeting of the Punjab Cabinet was held in Chandigarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Many important decisions were taken in the meeting. Decisions taken in cabinet meeting

  • He said that in the Cabinet meeting, the discretionary quota of the Chief Minister and Ministers has been reduced from 50 crores to 37 crores and that of the ministers has been reduced from one and a half crores to 1 crore rupees.
  • Visiting faculty in senior secondary schools have also been approved in the meeting.
  • Sanctioned to fill up 20 posts for administrative reforms.
  • The issue of early release of 5 prisoners came up in the meeting, out of which 4 prisoners were approved for early release, while the release of one prisoner was not approved.
  • The Annual Report of the Irrigation Department for 2021-22 was approved
  • The establishment of Punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in Mohali has been approved
  • The meeting also approved the filling of 484 posts in the health department.

When asked about the straw problems, Cheema said that till now no decision has been taken regarding the straw. Speaking about GST, he said that strict action will be taken against those who steal.

Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that a good sports environment is being created in Punjab. He said that the games of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab’ will start tomorrow on August 29, in which Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will also participate. He described these games of Punjab as Mahakumbh.

In response to a question about drugs, Finance Minister Cheema said that drugs have increased the most in Punjab during the tenure of the Akali-BJP government. He said that the government is taking serious action on this issue.
