Illegal gold worth 49 lakhs came from Dubai: Customs Department Air

The Customs Department has successfully busted a gold smuggling racket at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar district of Punjab. Currently, one person is being detained and questioned. The accused had brought the gold in the form of a paste, hiding it in his private part, so that it could not be caught even in the customary body scanner.

According to the information given by the customs department, the passenger had returned from Dubai. He was caught during customs checking. The customs department had received information that gold was being smuggled. When the accused was questioned strictly, he gave information about 3 capsules of gold hidden in his private part.

The gold paste turned out to be 1.183 kg
When the customs department recovered the gold paste from his private part, it weighed 1.183 kg. This was converted into pure gold, which had a total weight of 844.80 grams. Its international price is said to be Rs 49.94 lakh.
