She states that “yes, it is safe to eat fenugreek for diabetes, as it has been found to have many benefits for people with diabetes. Fenugreek contains fiber, which can help control blood sugar levels by slowing down the absorption of carbohydrates in the body.
Fenugreek actually doesn’t bring down sugar, rather it contains compounds that can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce insulin resistance. Thus fenugreek proves to be an important factor in the management of diabetes.

What should be the ideal amount

Dr Karuna Chaturvedi explains that a person with diabetes needs to consume fenugreek in varying amounts depending on factors such as age, weight and overall health. Generally, it is recommended to consume fenugreek in moderation, such as soaking 1-2 teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight and consuming it in the morning, or adding small amounts of fresh or dried fenugreek leaves to your meals.

Here are safe ways for diabetics to include fenugreek in their diet

Soak in 1 water and consume

The easiest and simplest way to consume fenugreek seeds is by soaking them and including them in your diet. Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Then after waking up in the morning, boil this water and drink it. By drinking this water on an empty stomach in the morning, you will get many benefits, one of which is to control diabetes.

Sprout 2 fenugreek seeds

If you want, you can also add sprouted fenugreek seeds to your food. You can sprout it like gram or any other pulse. Sprouted fenugreek seeds can be used to make paranthas, add to vegetables or make healthy sandwiches. Although it is slightly bitter in taste, so you can mix it with other ingredients.

3 Use fenugreek powder

Make a powder of fenugreek seeds and keep it, you can also add bitter gourd seeds and make a powder of both. This powder can be taken on an empty stomach in the morning or mixed with warm water and drunk.

Taking too much fenugreek seeds can be harmful

Dr Karuna Chaturvedi says that apart from its benefits, fenugreek can also have some side effects, such as diarrhoea, bloating and upset stomach. Especially when it is consumed in large quantities. It is better to start with small portions and gradually increase them. Also, drink plenty of water to prevent any digestive problems.
